Before you visit the spa, you must have had your teeth cleaned and examined for any issues at your dental office within 6 months of the treatment. You will be reclined in the chair and may choose to bring your own headphones, listen to our calming music, or close your eyes. We try to make the 2 hour visit as comfortable as possible.

 

The hygienist will create a barrier in your mouth consisting of lip retractors, cotton, and liquid dam. This is all created to protect the gum tissue so that only the teeth are exposed. The hygienist will then apply the Zoom whitening gel, which works in conjunction with the Zoom light to break up stains and discoloration. The gel is applied 3-4 times at 15 minute intervals. 

 

At the beginning and end of the procedure we do a shade comparison of your teeth. This way you can see the difference. There is no way for us to be able to tell you how white your teeth will be at the end. Most Zoom patients see results from 6-8 shades lighter.

 

After you have completed your Zoom whitening, we recommend that you avoid eating or drinking anything that can stain your teeth for at least 24 hours. Examples of things to avoid would be anything that would leave stains on a white shirt such as coffee, red wine, tobacco, ketchup, or any other dark staining substances. By following some simple instructions after whitening is done, your teeth will always be lighter than they were before. To keep your teeth looking their best, we recommend flossing, brushing twice a day and touch-ups with Zoom take home touch up pen. At your next dental visit, you can ask your dentist to make you a custom made bleaching trays to better maintain your result. Your Zoom whitening should last between 6 months to 2 years depending on your dental habits.
